History
 
January 1918 Kitamura Wazo was established as a private enterprise in Sanjo-sagaru, Kawaramachi, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto.
February 1927 The company was relocated to Gojo-sagaru, Yamato-oji, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto.
June 1950 Kitamura Mekki was established as a limited company, with \200,000 in capital, under president Mitsue Kitamura.
October 1953 The company purchases a patent for the "interchangeable joint application method" for copper plating from Dr. Rihei Tomono (Engineering). Dr. Tomono provides technical guidance.
November 1957 The Ministry of Defense appoints the company as a testing agent for plating processes for chromium, silver, nickel, hard chromium, and tin under the MIL standard.
April 1964 A new plant was constructed in Kamitoba, Kyoto and begins operation.
January 1969 The plant was named as Japan Industrial Standards plant.
April 1969 The company was reorganized as a corporation and renamed Kitamura Mekki Co., Ltd. with \5 million in capital.
August 1970 The No. 1 Plant of Kagoshima Plant was opened in Hiyoshicho, Kagoshima.
April 1975 The company develops a partial gold and silver plating facility and a continuous partial plating system for electronic components and was awarded a patent.
October 1976 Capital was increased to \81 million.
June 1978 The company holds a commemorative ceremony for its 60th anniversary.
July 1979 Singapore Kitamura Industries Pte., Ltd. was established.
June 1981 The Gunma Plant was constructed in Shinmachi, Tano-gun, Gunma.
November 1981 The Gunma Plant begins operation.
August 1982 The head office building was completed.
November 1982 Kyoto Prefecture designates the company a Model Factory for Rationalization of Small and Medium-size Enterprises.
February 1984 Kitamura Mekki and Mitani Shindo Co., Ltd. jointly invest capital to establish Kitami Electro Co., Ltd.
September 1984 Kitamura Mekki and Kobe Steel, Ltd. jointly invest capital to establish Leadmikk Co., Ltd.
April 1985 The Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Agency designates the company a Model Factory for Rationalization of Small and Medium-size Enterprises.
October 1985 Kitako Electronics (M) Sdn. Bhd. was established.
November 1986 Kitako Electronics (M) Sdn. Bhd. begins operation.
January 1987 Gunma MK Co., Ltd. was established to spin off the Gunma Plant into an independent company.
November 1987 The Miyazaki Plant of Kagoshima MK Co., Ltd. was established and begins operation.
June 1988 Taiwan Hi-Tech Co., Ltd. was established.
December 1988 The company increases its capital to \97 million.
January 1989 Kitamura Mekki Co., Ltd was renamed as Metek Kitamura Co., Ltd.
August 1989 Kitami Electro Co., Ltd. was renamed as Shin Kitami Co., Ltd.
July 1993 Kitako Electronics (M) Sdn. Bhd. was renamed as Metek Kitamura (M) Sdn. Bhd.
August 1993 Land was purchased for the Hokkai Plant in Eniwa, Hokkaido and construction begins.
December 1993 The Hokkai Plant of Metek Kitamura begins operation and the Sapporo Plant of Gunma MK Co., Ltd. was closed.
December 1994 Metek Kitamura (T) Co., Ltd. was established.
September 1995 The plant of Metek Kitamura (T) Co., Ltd. begins operation.
October 1996 Metek Electron Co., Ltd. was established in Utashinai, Hokkaido.
December 1996 The plant of Metek Electron Co., Ltd. begins operation.
June 1998 The company acquires certification of registration with ISO 9002, the international standard for quality assurance systems. (JQA-2432)
July 2000 The company commemorates its 50th anniversary.
August 2000 The Hokkai Plant was expanded and acquires certification of ISO 9002 registration. (JQA-QM5124)
September 2000 Metek Kitamura (T) Co., Ltd. was expanded.
May 2002 The company acquires certification of registration with ISO 14001, the international standard for environmental management systems. (JQA-EM2396)
January 2003 Kagoshima MK Co., Ltd. was renamed as Metek Kyushu Co., Ltd.
January 2007 Gunma MK Co., Ltd. was renamed as Metek Kanto Co., Ltd.
July 2007 Metek Kitamura was certified under the Comfortable Workplaces Promotion Plan by the Kyoto Labour Bureau.
April 2008 The company formation commemorates its 90th anniversary.
