Reducing Environmental Impact |

In the interests of environmental conservation and to ensure protection of the global environment, several directives - notably WEEE, RoHS and ELV - currently stipulate that manufactured products remain free of environmentally harmful substances.
In keeping with our environmental policy, Metek Kitamura has targeted several initiatives: eg.1) management and monitoring of the amount of chemicals stored; eg.2) switching from certain chemical substances to substitute substances; and eg.3) efficient use of resources and waste reduction. |

Introduction of an LED fluorescent light |

The
LED fluorescent light was introduced. It became reduction of
the 12.187kWh amount of the electric power used per year, and
has LED to 4.12t of carbon-dioxide-emissions
reduction.
We will introduce further and continue to
contribute to carbon dioxide reduction.

Adoption of Cogeneration |
|

|
By introducing a highly energy-efficient cogeneration system, we were able to reduce our CO2 emissions by about 30 percent compared with 1998 levels.
This initiative earned us EcoKyoto 21 certification from the Global Warming Prevention sector in December 2002; moreover, in December 2005, the governor of Kyoto presented Metek Kitamura with a gMeister Certificationh (three-star environment) from EcoKyoto 21.
Going forward, we will strive to operate as an environmentally harmonious enterprise. |

Thorough Management of Wastewater Disposal |

At Metek Kitamura, our plating process uses plating solutions containing heavy metals. For this reason, our wastewater is subject to water quality standards stipulated in the Sewage Law; therefore, we have established our own autonomous standard under 24-hour observation and have implemented a carefully controlled wastewater management system. |
